What is Moving Energy Yoga

In its essence, Moving Energy Yoga is about moving the energy within the body to restore optimum health and vitality.

Energy animates all life and needs to flow freely in the human body for optimum well-being. It has many different names, from Prana, Chi, Qi, Ki, but no matter what you call it, it is the life force that animates and nourishes the complex inter-woven systems of the physical, emotional and mental body.

Ultimately, we are seeking homeostasis or balance where the energy is neither excessive or stagnant. The Goldilocks effect.

Day to day energy stagnation is a normal part of our modern-day life, for example: after long periods of sitting. But this kinds of stagnation is easily  brought back into harmony with a few simple yoga poses. It is when the energy is left stagnant for too long that dis-ease arises. This is why daily yoga is prescribed for health and longevity.

Given the right environment the body’s self-healing wisdom is able to work its magic. The body is designed to restore and reset but requires healthy flowing of energy to do so. Nourishing the body with daily movement helps release the tensions that get in the way.

In the Moving Energy Yoga practice, yoga poses are held longer, we include gentle micro-movements or pulsing, which increases the potency of the poses to stir the rivers of energy, always keeping in mind it’s not about creating the perfect Triangle, but rather, healing the body.

You will notice how quickly your flexibility returns, your energy levels will shift, you will sleep better, your mental clarity will surprise you and healthy weight loss is easily restored.

Emphasis is placed on feeling and bringing greater levels of awareness into the body while mindfully directing breath through tension pockets. We use intuition to initiate small pulses, gentle rocks or micro movements as the yogi feels organically guided to do.

 

Throughout this practice comes an invitation to close the eyes and feel the effects of each pose, gently move inside that shape and connect with the energy as it flows. There is great healing in this reconnection.

We shift into the parasympathetic nervous operating system as we learn to relax and along with it comes a quieting of the mind and a stronger ability to stay present and witness the many sensations and subtleties.

Physically, yoga restores flexibility, improves circulation, balances hormones and reduces inflammation, which is the primary cause of illness and often the culprit to slowed recovery from illness or injury.

But “Moving Energy Yoga” is more than just a physical healing practice. It is about learning the language of one’s own unique body and learning to intentionally move the energy using and strengthening the mind-body connection. This connection is where the alchemy of yoga lies.
