Today was Different By Sonia Doubell

Today I held you in my heart as the sun rose over your garden..

Today was different,
Today I held you in my heart,
As the sun rose over your garden,
Like all the days before, I stood at the door,
Gazing into the spaces and places id always find you before,

For days I’ve pretended,
Even imagined you were there,
I’ve made us tea, your favorite loaf, extra butter for us both,

Today was different,
Today I held you in my heart,
As the sun rose over your garden,
I’ve been wearing your pale blue sweater,
Its cosy now the days are wetter,

Today was different,
Today I held you in my heart,
As the sun rose over your garden,
I saw it, t’was exactly as you said,
After the rain, the sun sneaks through the matted moss,
And shimmers like glitter angel floss,

Today was different,
Today I held you in my heart,
As the sun rose over your garden,
I sat on the step, took off my shoes and walked,
I walked and walked, we talked and talked

Today was different,
Today I held you in my heart,
And I knew, you’d always be with me.
